KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ has announced that the hit variety program will be running for six more months before it comes to a close in February 2012.

All of the cast members reportedly made a mutual agreement with the producers of the show, saying that they would be leaving altogether in six months.

Their official press release reads as follows:

“We would first like to thank all of the viewers who have shown love for ‘1 Night 2 Days’. For the past four years, KBS’s ‘1 Night 2 Days’ has been an extremely joyful program that’s received the generous love of its viewers.

Because of recent events, many discussions have been taking place internally. After holding a frank, open-minded discussion with the ‘1 Night 2 Day’ members, including Kang Ho Dong-ssi, we have come to a final decision that we will be announcing to viewers in the following paragraphs:

The members of ‘1 Night 2 Days’, including KBS and Kang Ho Dong-ssi, cannot imagine a ‘1 Night 2 Days’ without any of its members. We have come to a consensus of starting and ending the show together as one.



As a program that runs true to form, there is no ‘end’. The case is usually members pitifully departing one by one due to a drop in viewer ratings.

‘1 Night 2 Days’, a program that’s praised for being the ‘nation’s variety show’, is the result of much sweat and effort from the members and staff. We do not want something that shines so brightly to meet with a pitiful end. Realistically, the members also all agree that ‘1 Night 2 Days’ cannot continue on forever.

As such, all of the members have agreed to do their absolute best for the next six months and bring the show to a successful conclusion.

We’ve worked with passion for the past four years, and will continue to do so for the next six months. We’ll be working as if each episode is the last and promise to move our citizens and provide them with laughter. We ask that you continue to show us your interest and love.”

The conjectures and guesses on the fate of season 2 productions of KBS 2TV’s ‘Happy Sunday – 1 Night 2 Days’ are overflowing.

A KBS insider said in a phone conversation with ‘My Daily’ regarding ’1 Night 2 Days Season 22, “It’s true the talks have come up but there is nothing that has been finalized.”

A media outlet reported in the morning of the same day, “Season 2 will be produced without some of the main members like Eun Ji Won and Lee Soo Geun and Choi Jae Hyung PD of ‘Fly Shootdori’ and ‘Invincible _base_ball Team’ will be taking over.”

However, even Choi Jae Hyung PD who had been named as the PD in the story clarified his position saying, “There isn’t anything planned.”

The end of ’1 Night 2 Days’ had previously been announced for February of 2012 after Kang Ho Dong retired from the entertainment industry in September. The discussions over whether ’1 Night 2 Days’ would continue and if so, what the details of Season 2 would be has taken place time and time again.

’1 Night 2 Days’ members and staff were honored as the recipients of Daesang at the ’2011 KBS Entertainment Daesang’. Viewers and others alike point out that it would be a foolish move on KBS’s part to rid of such a great show with a great cast and staff recognized by the Daesang as well but the true future of ’1 Night 2 Days’ is still just out of reach.

Entertainers mention Kang Ho Dong in their acceptance speeches

Though Kang Ho Dong was not present, many of the celebrities could not ignore his absence at the ‘2011 SBS Entertainment Awards’ and desired for him to make his comeback soon.

Kim Yong Man, Kim Won Hee, and Shin Bong Sun hosted the SBS Entertainment Awards that took place on December 30th.

It was here that ‘Running Man‘ Yoo Jae Suk was awarded the honorable ‘Daesang’, and ‘Strong Heart”s Lee Seung Gi and Kim Byung Man of ‘Law of the Jungle‘ were awarded the Best Excellence Awards for Talk Show & Variety Programs. The awards went to various entertainers that were active at SBS for the past year.

However, MC Kang Ho Dong who won the Entertainment ‘Daesang’ last year and served as an MC on hit programs such as ‘Strong Heart’ and ‘Star King‘ until this past September did not receive any award. In fact, his name was not listed as a nominee for any of them. The MC temporarily retired from the industry after being under suspicion of tax evasion this past September, and was unable to attend any of the year-end ceremonies.

After Kang Ho Dong’s biggest rival Yoo Jae Suk received his SBS Entertainment ‘Daesang’, he cautiously began to say, “I am hesitant to say these words in fear that they will hurt my hyungnim but… I spoke too him not long ago. Towards the end of our conversation he said, “Jaesuk, be strong and march forward.” I really miss you. I will be strong and march forward, just as you said, but I would like to take that journey with you.”

Lee Seung Gi who was award the Talk Show Best Excellence Award as well as the Netizens’ Best Popularity Award also tearfully remarked, “Kang Ho Dong hyungnim, you always made me feel secure by looking closely after me. I never felt burdened because you were there with me, but now your absence feels like a tremendous void. I really want to hear your hearty laugh. I really want to tell you that I miss you dearly.”

Lee Seung Gi who has been hosting ‘Strong Heart’ alongside Kang Ho Dong for the past two years has been leading the show alone since September.

Cho Hae Ryun who was awarded the Talk Show Excellence Award also stated, “Our Ho Dong who has always cheered us on in the dressing room is taking some time off right now, but next year I hope to lead the programs with him.”

Cho Hae Ryun has helped Kang Ho Dong host ‘Star King’ until he took a temporary leave in September, and Entertainment Boom along with Super Junior‘s Lee Teuk who also worked a lot with the MC on ‘Strong Heart’ and ‘Star King’ also remembered to mention him in their speeches.

Lee Teuk who was also awarded the Talk Show Excellence Award remarked, “Dear Kang Ho Dong sunbaenim who never failed to give brutal advice! The place you belong is not there, but here. Please, hurry back“, and Boom held up a photo of Kang Ho Dong and danced his signature ‘Boom’ dance.

Although Kang Ho Dong was not present, the celebrities missed him at the award ceremony more than they ever have.

’1 Night 2 Days’ season 2 to retain the current format

Among the current 1N2D members, only Taewoong and Jongmin have not given decisions on their participations in Season 2. Taewoong is the busier of the two with a few acting projects in discussion while Jongmin is in the midst of a Koyote music comeback.

When 1N2D started and up to 2008, there were many discussions among viewers that the show essentially is a spin-off of MBC’s Infinity Challenge. While it’s true that 1N2D in the early stages was _base_d loosely on the Infinity Challenge model, the program eventually found its own formula and able to establish its own appeal among viewers. Some said the difference was the chemistry among the cast, the creative way the show was produced or the endearing way 1N2D succeeded in incorporating ordinary citizens into the show. Whatever the secret formula is, I hope the same will continue for Season 2. Despite having to rely on the current 1N2D format as the springboard, let’s hope that Season 2 will also be able to discover its unique charm after it has enough time to establish its footing. Guess we’ll have to watch to find out.

K, this may make for an interesting ending for 1N2D. How will the show say its farewell on February 26th?

The current ’1 Night 2 Days’ follow up program, ’1 Night 2 Days’ season 2 is starting to take form.

According to an insider in KBS, “For season 2 of ’1 Night 2 Days’, the potential program format that’s receiving the most support is keeping the current format. The name of the show ’1 Night 2 Days’ might actually be changed to something different, but the format in general will be kept the same”.

The insider continued, “There were many different opinions and ideas for season 2, but in the end it’s very hard to ignore the love and the interest of the viewers for the original format, so it looks as though they are keeping the original format”.

In the mean time, the production team for ’1 Night 2 Days’ season two are keeping their lips sealed about the details of the season 2 preparation. Actors Oh Ji Ho and Kim Sung Soo, singers Sung Shi Kyung and Yoo Hee Yeol, and actor + singer Kim Hyun Joong are currently in the talks for season 2, but none of their casting have been confirmed yet. Also, the number of cast members and which of the current members would be on season 2 has not been decided yet either.

Another KBS insider stated, “Naturally they are threading very carefully because the current ’1 Night 2 Days’ is still being aired”, and suggested a very cautious stance of the season 2 production team.

The current ’1 Night 2 Days’ program has only 3 scheduled filming remaining. The program will end on February and season 2 is expected to premier soon after.

KBS has begun the official promotion of ’1 Night 2 Days’ season 2.

KBS has recently mentioned about season 2 of ’1 Night 2 Days’ through a Sunday program preview broadcast.

A KBS announcer stated during the DMB broadcast on the 4th, “Kim C, Kang Ho Dong, and even PD Na Young Suk has left ’1 Night 2 Days’, but there is a season 2. Please look forward to season 23. It is the first time KBS has made an official promo of ’1 Night 2 Days’ season 2.

Also, during the preview of ’1 Night 2 Days’ to air on the 5th, a caption read “Lee Seung Gi, Eun Ji Won bye~”, hinting who wouldn’t be joining the season 2 of the program.

KBS has been very cautious about mentioning the preparation of season 2 of ’1 Night 2 Days’ so far, but recently the filming date for the first episode of season 2 had been decided and it looks as though they are getting busy with the final preparations. KBS will soon hold a press conference regarding the new season of ’1 Night 2 Days’.

KBS Announces Final Trip Location for “One Night, Two Days”

Earlier today, producers of KBS2 “Happy Sunday – One Night, Two Days (1N2D)” announced the final filming location for the popular variety show. As previously reported, the last recording of “1N2D” will take place February 10-11.

Director Na Young Suk announced, “There has been a lot of interest as to where our last filming location would be. The members will hold the show’s last opening from Jeongeup, North Jeolla.” Then the cast and crew of “1N2D” will say their final farewells to their viewers from Daechon Beach in Boryong, South Chungcheong.

“1N2D” has been one of the longest running variety shows on Korean TV. The show has been introducing both domestic and international viewers to some of the most beautiful, scenic places in South Korea since August 5, 2007.

Lee Seung Gi, Eun Ji Won, Lee Soo Geun, Kim Jong Min, and Uhm Tae Woong’s final trip will air February 19 and 26.

New Cast of 1N2D reveilled

Actors Kim Seung Woo, Cha Tae Hyun, Ju Won and singer Sung Si Kyung will be joining the second season of KBS2’s 1 Night, 2 Days.

1 Night, 2 Days 2 will air its first episode on March 4 with seven members, including the new members and the original members Lee Su Geun, Uhm Tae Woong and Kim Jong Min.

Producer Choi Jae Hyung of Invincible Saturday and Fly Shoot Dori will be taking up the role of director for the show. Producer Na Young Seok of the first season, in the meantime, will be studying abroad for a brief while.

PD Choi revealed, “Kim Seung Woo, as the oldest member of the team, won’t be avoiding anything hard coming his way, and will play the role of center and bridge to make a great broadcast with the other members.

PD Choi added, “Sung Si Kyung is preparing for the show by working out to build up his strength and monitoring previous broadcasts of 1 Night, 2 Days in order to adapt to the program quickly. For Ju Won, this is his first fixed role in a variety program, and he’s preparing to play the part of the youngest member of the team in the variety he’s never experienced.”

The _title_ of the program will continue to be 1 Night, 2 Days, and the first filming site and concept will not be revealed beforehand. The first filming for the show will take place from February 24-25.

The second season will mostly be taking on the original 1 Night, 2 Days. It will continue with its yearly projects including viewer tours and celebrity specials, but it will also be adding more new projects such as the exploration project, which will set out to introduce animals close to extinction, and global projects, which will spread Korea throughout the world.

The Antarctica project, of which talk has been cropping up ever since the first season, will also be going underway after the program settles down.
